A hike and some geocaching.

We really love Andrew Jackson State Park. Both Pumpkin and Peanut had their first hikes there when they were a matter of weeks old. It is just down the road from where we live, and there are a few perfect trails for hiking. I’m sure Pickle will have his first hike there too, this fall.

This weekend we went for a hike right around Peanut’s nap time, and we didn’t take a carrier. So the last half of the hike had The Captain schlepping twenty pounds of toddler around on muddy terrain, but it was still a lovely day. We even found a few geocaches! Did you know that you could use your smartphone to geocache these days?

These photos were taken with my 50mm f/1.4 lens…they aren’t as sharp as I would like, and I’ve been inspired to finally send the darn thing in to Nikon for a repair. I think something is wrong with the autofocus; I dropped it on concrete from roughly three feet high while shooting a wedding in 2010. Oops.

Finding the first geocache.
