“Home” – Photo 101: A Photo a Day

This month, I’m helping out with Blogging University’s Photo 101 course on WordPress.com, and I’ve decided to join in as a participant as well. I’m winding down the busy season with Jenny Hooks Photography and heading into an indefinite hiatus, and I’m going to have more time to spend on the hobby of photography. I still have personal photos from last December that I haven’t even sorted yet, let alone edited. I’m very excited for this as a vehicle to get back into it.

Today’s assignment was to photograph “Home”. For me, as for many, Home is where my kiddos and husband are. I simply got my camera out during our usual evening routine with the kids.

I shot all of these on ISO 2000 with my Nikon D7000 and a combination of my 85mm f/1.8 and 35mm f/2.0 prime lenses. There’s some grain to the photos that is inherent to shooting at that high of an ISO, and I decided to process them in Lightroom as black and white. I like the photojournalistic feel of all of them.

Here’s a slice of my life, my heart and my Home.

  1. Lovely shots of home! Thanks for posting your camera info. I’m trying more low light, indoor shots of my family and am finding color cast to be a problem, so have a bit more to learn!

  2. I’m struck speechless… you are an amazing photographer! this series is absolutely amazing, I’m in awe. it’s when I see images like that that I know I need to improve my photography skills, because I soooo wish I could take some like that…

thank you for sharing. I’m super late on the assignments but I might take some time later to work on them all… have a beautiful and lovingly week-end with your family.
