2005: Asheville and Biltmore Estate

For my 27th birthday, The Captain took me to the Hill House bed and breakfast in Asheville, North Carolina. It was my first time staying in a bed and breakfast, and I was very excited to visit Biltmore Estate. Plus, being in the Blue Ridge Mountains in October is a beautiful experience of its own.

For us, staying at Hill House set the bar very high for places like it in the future, as we returned to Asheville a few years later to stay at another b&b, and it was a really dismal experience in comparison. I don’t even remember the name of the place! Now that we’re living in Ohio, I’m not sure if we will ever get back to Asheville, but if you’re looking for a place to stay while there, go to Hill House. The ownership has changed since 2005, but from what I can tell on the website, it is still a lovely and well-loved place.

And Biltmore is just as grand as it looks in photos, if not moreso. It is a national treasure, and I felt transported back in time when we were there. And their wines are marvelous!
