Month: January 2018

2009: Some photos with daddy.

An adorable meeting of the minds. Pumpkin’s curiosity was already very apparent!

2009: First month with Pumpkin.

It’s amazing how much she changed in the first month, from a scrunch-faced little nugget to a big-eyed wee person. … Read More 2009: First month with Pumpkin.

2009: Going home with our girl.

Leaving the hospital with our daughter was legitimately one of the scariest moments of my life. The enormity of responsibility that we’d just undertaken didn’t really hit me while we were in the hospital — we were taken care of so well by the staff at Carolinas Medical Center, everything was very structured and organized.… Read More 2009: Going home with our girl.

2009: September 24, Pumpkin’s birth.

Our little Pumpkin arrived at 7:32 pm on Thursday, September 24th! She weighed 8 pounds and 14 ounces, and measured 20 and 3/4 inches long. She is incredibly strong, bright-eyed, and positively beautiful, with a head full of silky dark hair. She looks just like her daddy. I was exactly a week “overdue”, and had… Read More 2009: September 24, Pumpkin’s birth.

2009: Pumpkin’s crib and nursery.

The Captain used his woodworking savvy to build Pumpkin’s crib (which was then Peanut’s, then Panda’s, and will likely be our grandchildren’s), starting with a pile of beautiful raw Brazilian cherry. I wish I’d taken more photos of the progress — I can’t find any that I’d taken before he had it mostly assembled. This… Read More 2009: Pumpkin’s crib and nursery.

2009: The Bubbas

A few months after we got the fence, Casey had taken to jumping over it to chase squirrels. Having to run after her being massively pregnant was not only physically difficult, it was emotionally stressful. Our old house backed up to the main road entering the neighborhood, and she could have very easily been hit… Read More 2009: The Bubbas

I love, love, love these weirdos. ❤️
😍😍😍
Snow. 💙
One of my favorite annual social media rituals is seeing my friends’ families’ costume photos. 🧡 Happy Halloween from my weirdos to yours!
Song lyrics for “I’m So In Love With You” by Jill Andrews and Seth Avett, according to a lyrics website. Honestly, I’m into it.
Beautiful venue for a wedding. Congratulations to Paige and Doug! Thanks @twearly for the pic. 🧡
Good morning. 💙
Selfies are difficult. 🤓
Astronomy with my little bud. 💛 #fallinohio
$5 Mustache Rides.
We rode 6 miles this morning, and then ate baked goods (to fuel the 6 mile ride back, of course). A mostly sedentary summer because of my foot left me tired and more out of shape than I’ve ever been. Riding my bike is actually easier than walking on the recovering foot, and @frenzycheck has been getting back into cycling, so it’s a win-win! When he ordered our pastries, he asked for the “poop emoji muffin”. Barista was distinctly unamused. #fallinohio
Still sharing my bed with a baby ... different species this time, though. #brindlebaby #adoptdontshop
Fun at the Wool Gathering last weekend. 🧡 #fallinohio
I’ve heard a lot about the Butterbeer at Universal’s Harry Potter locations, and remained skeptical of how good it would be. Low expectations make disappointment a bit less of a bummer. We finally tried it, and the drink is strictly “meh”. But...the fudge, y’all. THE. FUDGE. I could melt this stuff down and bathe in it. I’m considering changing my name to Mrs. Butterbeer Fudge. We made a second trip into the park today just for more. It delivers.
My favorite thing about this resort is the three resident mallard girls (no token male) and the fact that the pool staff doesn’t shoo them out of the pool. 💚
Are we doing this right? @frenzycheck
Summer isn’t over until late next month, but it sure feels like it ended today. Last pool day, and on Wednesday, I’m back to work after a three month sabbatical. I’m having feelings.
The love of my life. #rescuedog #adoptdontshop #murphquake #spottedtongue
