This will be the last of my 2008 posts, and the last of the primary dog-centric posts as well. These are all from December, the first month having three dogs. Cody fit into the pack quickly and easily, her transition into the family being much easier than Casey’s. Claire was so gentle with her, and… Read More 2008: A pack of three.
2008 was the year we adopted three dogs, and the year I became pregnant with our first child. It was a busy year. In September, we adopted Claire’s littermate sister. It was a serendipitous thing, but not without bumps along the way. Casey was (and still is) a very different dog than Claire with a… Read More 2008: Cody comes home.
My parents came to visit late in the summer, and we decided to take a short, casual hike at Crowder’s Mountain State Park. This was before the ubiquity of smartphones, so we had to rely on trail maps and our own savvy to find our way. I wasn’t really worried about this at all, because… Read More 2008: The time we hiked a mountain in August with no water.

On our weekends before kids, we mostly traveled and took photos, or binge-played World of Warcraft. These are from one of our many trips to the Riverbanks Zoo and Garden in Columbia, South Carolina. 🙂

Our first trip there couldn’t have been more perfect; the bed and breakfast we chose, the restaurants we experienced, Biltmore Estate. It was all a dream. This time, we didn’t go back to Biltmore this time, and the bed and breakfast… Read More 2007: Another trip to Asheville.
2017 marked our 11 year wedding anniversary, though for the last several years, we haven’t remembered to book a babysitter in time to actually go out for a date. This photo was from our one-year anniversary dinner at The Melting Pot, which was my favorite place to go back then. We look so…rested. 🙂
